Project Background
The project is an improvement works of Mui Wo Ferry Pier and reprovision of facilities in vicinity of the Pier as part of CEDD Lantau Island development. It beginned with several tree felling works in 2023. Chunwo-Fongwingshing Joint-Venture (CW-FWSJV) called up HK Timberbank to collect and upcycle the proposed felled trees for future use.
Recycle process
Partnering with Timber Research & Education Foundation TREF, a registered s88 Charitable organization, and supported by Master of Environmental Management of the University of Hong Kong (MscENVM), tree carbon survey is being conducted on site with the tree felling practise. With generous support of the client CEDD, and immense effort of coordination among Chun Wo and the fellow arbor contractor Toyogreen 東陽綠化 with TREF and Timberbank team, tree datas and abandon tree samples were being collected for further analysis to assist TREF to build local tree carbon database.
ReDesign
The felled trees were collected and kiln dried in Timberbank and further made into facilities upgrade for CW-FWSJV site office. A signage of “CW-FWSJV”made from Casuarina equisetifolia L (Horse-tail Tree) and two set of movable table and chair set made from Araucaria cunninghamii (Hoop pine). More projects are coming.
