We are thrilled to be chosen as one of the sustainable partner of Amber at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental. Far from being a catchword, sustainability has been a central tenet at Amber since it opened 18 years ago. They implement responsible actions to build positive social, material and environmental impact.

Design Brief

Timberbank has been asked to reproduce the elegant design of dining table in Amber, which is about time to retire as the material has worn down after 18 years of operation. Acacia Confusa was the first material the Chef Richard Ekkebus picked, which coincidentally is being retired now as pioneer species of reforestation in Hong Kong since the 50’s and 60’s.
Detailing work is important to repeat the classic design of a fine recessed brass electroplated stainless steel trim in a solid wood palette.

ReCYCLE story

The dining table and the table accessories deployed the Acacia confusa.

Mid-tone grainy heartwood characterized the unique naturalistic pattern of the tropical tree. The timber of the table was collected near the Lion Rock, while the accessories were from Tai Po after Typhoon Manghut.
